PHS 2025-2026 School Improvement Plan Goals
- Throughout the 2025-26 school year, Peabody High School will improve 9-12 mathematics. High expectations for ALL students will remain the foundation of our school. Through the use of our math HQIM, focused intellectual preparation sessions, and appropriate student acceleration and/or intervention/tutoring opportunities, we will see improvements in math classroom instruction, math student work, and math student outcomes.
- Throughout the 2025-26 school year, Peabody High School will improve literacy for grades 9-12. High expectations for ALL students will remain the foundation of our school. Through the use of our focused intellectual preparation sessions and appropriate student acceleration and/or intervention/tutoring opportunities, we will see improvements in literacy classroom instruction, literacy student work, and literacy student outcomes.
- PHS believes that the measures we have put in place, and the communications we have put into place with parents, has had a direct impact on student attendance. At the end of the 2016-2017 school year, our chronic absenteeism percentage was over 11%, at end of the 2023-2024 school year chronic absenteeism was at 7.1%. Schools comparable to ours were at 12.6%. Research shows that school attendance increases when there is a safe and positive school climate. We believe the drop in the percentage of absenteeism was due to the fact that students feel safe and supported at Peabody High School. The goal for the 2025-2026 school year is to decrease the percentage of students who are chronically absent even more. PHS will continue to increase the quality of the school climate in order to further provide students, parents, and school personnel with a productive, and safe school environment. We will continue to use and monitor the progressive truancy plan and look into other methods of working with families to support them and their students.
