Mackenzie Reeves competes in Nashville Poetry competition!

This past weekend, high school students from all over Tennessee gathered in Nashville to compete in the 2024 Poetry Out Loud recitation competition.
Peabody High School is proud to be have been represented in the state competition by Sophomore Mackenzie Reeves.
For the competition, students chose three poems from a large database, memorized them, and then recited them in front of an audience. This is Mackenzie’s second year competing in Poetry Out Loud and for her poems this year she chose:
• “Caged Bird” by Maya Angelou,
• “And I Wonder Where You Are” by Tanaya Winder, and
• “Batter My Heart Three-Personed God” by John Donne.
Even though Mackenzie was not chosen as one of the four finalists, she did very well and was an excellent representative of Peabody.
